Terrace Road Primary School
18th June 2026
We recently had the pleasure of welcoming practitioners to a fantastic session at Terrace Road Primary focused on effective observation in the early years.
Through real examples of practice, the school demonstrated how careful, purposeful observation can deepen our understanding of children’s learning and help practitioners identify meaningful next steps within provision.
It was wonderful to see this brought to life across the school. Visitors had the opportunity to spend time in classrooms, talk with staff and see first-hand how observation, provision and playful learning work together to create engaging, child-centred learning experiences.
The session also provided an opportunity to see how OPAL and playful learning are embedded across the school, reflecting a shared vision and consistent approach to learning.
A huge thank you to the staff for opening their classrooms, sharing their journey so openly and giving visitors an insight into their practice. There were some valuable conversations, thoughtful questions and lots of opportunities to reflect on how effective observation can inform and strengthen practice.
Thank you to everyone who joined us and contributed to such a positive and purposeful session!
